EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Kern County — October 28, 2026. Military families living in privatized housing at Edwards Air Force Base have a formal route to raise concerns if maintenance problems remain unresolved. According to a September 3 announcement by the 412th Test Wing Public Affairs Office, residents should start with private housing manager Mayroad, then work through the Military Housing Office (MHO), and may ultimately contact the installation’s privatized housing resident advocate.

Step one: Report the problem to Mayroad

The Air Force advises tenants to request assistance through the property’s housing manager for ordinary repair and maintenance problems. Residents should describe the issue clearly and retain their own records of requests, service visits and outcomes, especially where repeated problems or safety concerns are involved.

Step two: Involve the Military Housing Office

If repairs are delayed, unsatisfactory or fail to address an underlying problem, the MHO serves as the official mediator between occupants and Mayroad. The Air Force recommends this escalation rather than assuming a resident advocate replaces the normal maintenance and mediation processes.

Step three: Contact the resident advocate

Edwards identifies Heather Galvan as its privatized housing resident advocate. She offers individual consultations, group sessions and a feedback portal where residents can describe concerns, including anonymously. Her role can also help identify problems affecting more than one neighborhood and convey them to installation leadership.

The September announcement lists Galvan as available Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., at (661) 275-6319 or heather.galvan@us.af.mil. Families should confirm these details through the installation if contact information changes.

How residents can take part in housing governance

Galvan also supports the resident council program, which aims to represent each of the base’s seven privatized housing neighborhoods and FamCamp. The Air Force reported that 11 of 15 planned council positions were filled at the time of its September article; that figure is a historical snapshot, not a verified count of current vacancies in late October. Interested residents can inquire about participation.

Why this matters: Safe, timely repairs are a practical quality-of-life issue for service members and families. An escalation route is valuable only if residents know when and how to use it. This article is a public-service guide, not an allegation that a particular repair request was ignored or a claim of new base housing policy enacted today.
